Text Reverser Online
Reverse text characters, word order within each line or the order of entire lines. Character modes use Unicode grapheme clusters to keep recognized emoji sequences and combining marks together.
Grapheme segmentation is unavailable in this browser. Character reversal modes are disabled; word and line modes remain available.
Maximum 100,000 UTF-16 code units. Input is never silently truncated. Output line endings use LF. Display direction changes only the preview, not copied or downloaded characters.

How to reverse text
1. Enter the original
Type or paste the text you want to reverse.
2. Select a method
Choose entire-text characters, per-line characters, words or line order.
3. Reverse and export
Click Reverse text, review the result, then copy or download it.
Four ways to reverse a text
Reverse characters across the entire text
This mode reverses the sequence of grapheme clusters across the complete input, including spaces and line breaks. Hello becomes olleH. A final newline can therefore move to the beginning. It changes character order rather than mirroring the shapes of letters.
Reverse characters within each line
Each line’s grapheme sequence is reversed independently while the lines stay in their original order. Spaces inside the line move with the reversed sequence, so leading spaces can become trailing spaces. Line breaks remain between the same lines.
Reverse word order within each line
Word mode treats each uninterrupted non-whitespace run as a token. It reverses those tokens within each line while keeping the original whitespace slots in place. Punctuation attached to a token stays with it. This is not linguistic word segmentation.
For example, one two three becomes three two one. Leading and trailing whitespace stays in its slot, as do internal runs of spaces and tabs. Text written without whitespace may remain one token.
Reverse complete line order
Line mode flips the top-to-bottom sequence without reversing the contents of each line. Empty lines participate in the reversal. A final newline is treated as a line terminator and retained at the end rather than becoming a new first blank line.
Unicode, emoji and combining marks
Character modes use Intl.Segmenter with grapheme granularity. This keeps sequences recognized by your browser, such as many family emojis, flags and letters with combining accents, together during reversal. Recognition depends on the browser’s Unicode data; it is not a guarantee for every future sequence or script.
Reordering can create new neighboring combinations, so grapheme counts can change even when code-point counts remain equal. Reversing twice is not guaranteed to restore every possible Unicode string if segmentation boundaries change.
Arabic and display direction
The tool reverses stored logical order, not a screenshot of rendered text. Arabic shaping and bidirectional rendering can make the visual result differ from a simple mirror. Use the display-direction control to inspect it. It does not insert direction controls or change the characters copied to your clipboard.
Original text and line endings
Every operation starts from the original input. Use result as input explicitly replaces that input with the current result and clears the output, ready for another operation. The other buttons do not overwrite the original.
CRLF, CR and Unicode line separators are normalized to LF before reversal. No letter-case conversion or whitespace trimming is applied. This is not a byte-preserving file transformation or encryption.
Use the Character Counter for more Unicode measurements, or Text Sorter for other line-order options.
Privacy and local processing
This tool’s code reverses text in your browser. It does not send your input to an API or save it in browser storage. Copying uses the clipboard when requested, and TXT files are generated locally in UTF-8.
Your browser, extensions and other scripts on the website have their own behavior, which this tool does not control.
Frequently asked questions
Does this create mirrored or upside-down letters?
No. It changes the order of text units. It does not substitute look-alike Unicode letters or mirror glyph shapes.
Does word mode preserve spaces?
It preserves whitespace slots within each line and reverses the non-whitespace tokens occupying the other slots. Punctuation remains attached to its token.
Why are character modes unavailable in my browser?
They require Intl.Segmenter. Use a newer browser for grapheme-based reversal. The tool does not silently fall back to splitting complex characters into code points.
Does reversing text twice restore the original?
It generally restores simple text when the same mode is applied to the result. Line-ending normalization and changes to Unicode grapheme boundaries mean this is not guaranteed for every input.
Does changing direction alter the downloaded text?
No. Direction affects only the result display. Downloads contain the generated characters without inserted direction-control marks.
Does clicking Reverse again reverse the previous result?
No. It starts from the original each time. Use result as input first if you want to transform the result.
